Sniper Elite 4 is a third person tactical shooter video game released in 2017 and developed and published by Rebellion Developments.Sniper Elite 4 invites you back to the main character, Karl Fairbairn. He works as an undercover British sniper. The Union has sent him to Italy to locate and destroy Nazi weapons capable of changing the balance of military power.
The protagonist also participates in the resistance, trying to negotiate with the mafia while simultaneously destroying enemy infrastructure. The plot is told through brief dialogue before each mission. The protagonist himself speaks only in the opening cutscenes and periodically provides hints to the player. There's a camp where the protagonist can take on missions and engage in dialogue with team members.
Among the characters are a radio operator who responds to the call sign Mama Hen an old US special agent, a boatman, Angel, the leader of the resistance, and a couple of mafiosi. The protagonist, a sniper, travels across the globe, carrying out various sabotage missions assigned by commanders, using his permanent sniper rifle. While completing missions, the character doesn't communicate with enemies, but rather gathers information from discovered documents. The game's Italian maps, featuring vineyards, coastal towns, and rocky islands, are large and open. They feature distinct conditions, missions, and playstyles.
The terrain is used to advantage during missions; for example, the Apennine Mountains offer a sniper's unparalleled reach, allowing him to easily hit his target. The game is divided into four difficulty levels, with the Easy mode offering quick completion and the Hard mode offering realistic conditions and a wealth of challenges. Hardcore mode has no interface, enemies quickly notice shortages, and there are no map markers. Completing missions earns the protagonist points and a certain rank. Points are used to unlock additional skills.
